Biography

John Mahon’s practice consists of representing a wide variety of clients in litigation with an emphasis in defending hospitals, health systems and physicians. He also has significant experience in various other types of general civil litigation, including personal injury, products liability, premises liability, in addition to construction, toxic torts and insurance litigation. John is a seasoned speaker and author, presenting to legal and non-legal professionals at nationwide conferences.

Representative Cases

  • Obtained six-figure settlement on behalf of workers’ compensation insurer in breach of contract and fraud action in federal court against contractor to recoup unpaid insurance premiums.
  • Dismissal of all claims against Fortune 500 electronics manufacturer in lawsuit with allegations of criminal harassment, common law libel and violations of the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act.
  • Defense Verdict for hospital and emergency room physician following four-day trial for wrongful death of a 40 year-old woman.
  • Charles Biondo v. Union Insurance Company of Providence, 179 S.W.3d 396 (Mo.App.E.D. 2005) - Appellate court affirmed trial court’s grant of summary judgment in favor of property insurer in connection with claim for water damage to foundation of home.
  • Defense Verdict for property insurer following two-week jury trial for breach of contract and vexatious refusal to pay damages in connection with insurance claim for hail damage to two local apartment complexes.
